In a tragic incident that took place on Thursday, a woman named Cheptoo, hailing from Kolong village in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County, allegedly beheaded her man.
Cheptoo claimed that the man had sexually assaulted her two-year-old daughter, which led to this unfortunate turn of events.
The area chief promptly reported the incident to the police, informing them that Cheptoo had confessed to the murder during a phone call.
Upon receiving the report, the police quickly responded and proceeded to the scene of the crime.
However, their efforts were met with resistance from an angry mob that had gathered, determined to harm Cheptoo.

Recognizing the volatile situation, the police called for backup from Kapsabet Police Station. Eventually, additional officers arrived and managed to rescue Cheptoo from the hostile crowd.
Unfortunately, during the rescue operation, the patrol vehicle used by the police was damaged.
Despite the intervention, the mob remained adamant and refused to allow the police to retrieve the deceased man’s body.
In a disturbing turn of events, they resorted to setting fire to Cheptoo’s house as an act of retaliation.
The police have since been in contact with the area chief, requesting their assistance in negotiating for the release of the man’s remains. However, as of now, these negotiations have not taken place.
Cheptoo, meanwhile, is currently receiving medical treatment at Kapsabet Referral Hospital for her injuries sustained during the incident.
Once her medical condition stabilizes, she will face legal action for her involvement in the man’s death. The authorities will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged sexual assault and subsequent killing.
It is important to note that this incident highlights the complex and sensitive nature of such cases, where emotions run high and communities are deeply affected.
The law enforcement agencies and local authorities will continue their efforts to restore peace, ensure justice, and provide support to all those involved in this tragic event.
