Additionally, multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered with the man and in a vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing and very active, but officials believe that the man may have been planning to carry out an attack at the amusement park.

The park was closed to the public on Tuesday, August 2, 2023, while authorities investigated the scene.

We are still trying to piece together what happened here,” said Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson. “But what is clear is that this man was heavily armed and prepared for violence. We are grateful that no one else was injured.

Wilson said that the man was found dead by a park employee on Tuesday morning.

The employee was opening the park for the day when he saw the man’s body lying in a parking lot.

The employee immediately called 911.

When police arrived, they found the man’s body with the weapons and IEDs nearby. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
