Blogger Pauline Njoroge arrested, she is a prominent political commentator. She was apprehended by Watamu officers in Kilifi County.
According to an anonymous officer familiar with the situation, they wished to speak with her regarding a tweet she had shared.
“We have certain matters we need to discuss with her,” stated the unnamed officer.
Njoroge has consistently voiced her disapproval of President William Ruto’s administration.
Using her social media platforms, she has openly criticized the current government.
Prior to the 2022 General Elections, she was closely associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta and actively campaigned for ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
Following the elections, she remained loyal to Uhuru and continued to express her dissatisfaction with the Ruto regime.
A few weeks ago, she claimed that individuals within the government had approached her with an offer to join their ranks, which she declined.
On June 7, in response to Silas Jakakimba, an aide to former ODM leader Raila Odinga, who alleged that massive financial losses occurred duringuru’s tenure, Njoroge tweeted:
“Silas Jakakimba, you’re here claiming that the previous administration left a significant financial deficit that Ruto is attempting to rectify.
Yet, just last week, you and your esteemed colleagues in the government offered me KES 500,000 per month to switch sides.
If the country was truly in a financial crisis, where would that money come from? You should have refrained from discussing this matter because I know the truth.”
